New old Limit

Now it’s time to hear something new from me. I played very few hands till end of december last year thats why i didn’t post so far. Whatever, i started on the 3rd weekend in December playing on win2day with a BR for NL10/20. During the holidays i played like a maniac and pwnd everbody on nl20, the fact that there are no regs helped me to achieve a very good winrate of about 18BB/100. Now i play for about 10k hands on NL50 and I am running hot with the nearly same winrate. I also started to play on Boss Media again where i did get a pretty good deal.
The funny thing is that i already played NL50 about a year ago but i cashed out and didn’t continue to play (no idea why…). I hope to get up to NL100 in the next 3 months on win2day and build a BR for NL50 on Boss.

It’s been a while since my last blogpost. After I returned from bali (which was a really relaxing week btw) I started grinding in our new apartment in graz. I’ve been running pretty bad and whenever I’m on a downswing I really don’t feel like blogging. After today I’m even for the month after 29k Hands which isn’t too bad considering how horrible i ran.

On Win2Day I seem to run bad since over 3 months. I just checked and I managed to make whooping 2k€ since November 1st on Win2Day which is a really poor result considering how bad the competition is. The main problem is that there is so little action that I just can’t get many hands in. I only played 40k Hands of nl400+ on Win2Day since I started my HEM-db in August. And we all know that 40k hands are nothing. The funny thing is that there are quite a few regulars there that consider themselves to be a „poker pro“ because they managed to win xxxxx€ from fish at limits as high as NL1k allthough they havn’t played much more than 300k hands of poker alltogether. I find it interesting how lightly many people take the decision to „go pro“. For me it took a pretty long time to finally think of poker as my actual job. Also I finished my bachelor in computer science in order to have at least something if the day comes that poker can’t be played profitable anymore (allthough I don’t think that day is going to come ever). I guess many people see the „easy“ money and think it’s going to be like this forever. I’m really curious how the pokerworld will look like in 2-3 years. I think it will still be possible to play profitably but alot of the mediocre winning players that are around now will be gone because they won’t be able to show a profit anymore when the games continue to get thougher. We’ll see, I hope I’m not one of these mediocre players .

It’s fun to run bad at NL1k because you only get to play ~200 hands a month at that limit at Win2Day. Btw I never ever have anything that JJ beats here vs him but he obviously doesn’t know that

Prague has been a blast and we had a ton of fun there. Maybe I will post some pictures after I get my camera back from a friend. We visited some tourist spots and walked around a lot. We got hammered friday and saturday, but the clubs we were in didn’t really amaze me and the partying was mediocre. I guess too much alcohol can be blamed here. I think prague is nice, but far away from my favorite cities that I visited so far.

My knee surgery got postponed to the 26th of march. Not a great date, but my doctor had the flue so we had to postpone that. That gives me some time to kill before my surgery and I might get one or two trips done. The city that has yet to be decided….

I played about 10k hands since my last entry and I played 2k more since I saved this draft I wanted to post that I am up a bit, but my last 2k hands put me down another 6 buy ins. I won’t keep on rambling since nobody likes to read that. I think it’s pretty much a mixture of me beeing over aggressive/getting into stupid spots/running not well.

I think I might grind out nl400 till I make 10 stacks there just to get back a little bit of my confidence. I think I am playing fairly well for most of the time and mostly I am just playing 7-8 tables now when I play nl1k. But somehow it doesn’t really matter if you play good, when the cards don’t go your way. I am definitely not the first guy, that isn’t able to crush nl1k right from the bat, so I am defnitely not too sad about that.

I played a bunch of tournies today, I managed to bust out early in nearly all of them. At the 100k guaranteed at boss I managed to make a whopping 77th place, which was just 17 places away from the price money, when I managed to loose two consecutive flips when I was in good shape…. Someday I will take one down, I swear!

… so I decided to put in another session…

apparently at this time of the night there aren’t many nl1k games running, so I played a bunch of everything that was open and 2/4+ . I played about 1800 hands and won a whopping 6k.. I mean wtf. My biggest loosing day and my 2nd biggest winning day following up each other in a frame of 6k hands. o_0 With these cards and setups I would have made a lot more while playing nl1k…. but I take what I can get…

I just finished my first -10k day. Honestly it feels pretty bad. So no recovery so far….

The day started with my first session going really bad and after sometime I think I started to tilt. No real monkey shoving tilt, just beeing way to aggro and spewing around. After I realized it, I was down 6k already…

I think a combination of this hand and some small hands against some fish made me tilt. My worst tilt hand from today. here. I don’t know why, but especially hands like this tilt me pretty hard…

Quitting is a skill too, and I should have quit after I run this awful bluff….

The biggest fish that played today puked right all over me here o_0

can’t blame anyone, but myself for that….

You know it can’t be a good day when hands turn out like that.

I wouldn’t have won anyway since the K spiked his way to the board…

That were about all pots from the >60bb fraction… I only played 4k hands so…. My whopping 36% in these 2500 hands of nl1k that I played today, might have also something to do with my losses…

I know I turned this blog into a whine blog, but be prepared for flortschs next entry, hes going to be back from vacation soon and I think he will destroy the games again….

Tomorrow I am heading for prague and I hope we will have a big party weekend there

I know that’s just poker and I know I have to deal with this kind of swings too, but right now it just suxx..

In the last two days I played about 16k hands. Yesterday I stopped running awful for the first time this year and I managed to book a win that nearly made me even for the year…

Today I feel like the pokergods hate me again… Playing 7k hands and beeing down 2k is like.. wtf why me

I was surprised that I didn’t win that one. Villain showed me how to be unpredictable I guess.

I’ve been sick for the last 7 days… I didn’t play any poker nor was I able to do anything else besides laying in bed, coughing and sweating…

On Monday I had two course finals and after 3 hours of sleep and having pretty high fever at that time too, I think I did pretty poor job there. This Friday I had another course final and my condition was really bad at this time as well. One hour of multiple choice questions at 8 in the morning won’t do your condition any good I would say… Of course I failed for 1 point out of 80 …. when it rains, it pours….

So the whole week went to complete waste due to my flu. Since today is superbowl and I am going to be up pretty late, I played about 10 tourneys so far…

I think I am now on a 25+ Tourney streak where I didn’t even come near a bubble….. I hate tourneys, but once in a while I get the urge to play them and then I play a ton of them and SOMEDAY I too will score big in one of them

Last month was finally something like -6k after rakeback, which isn’t too bad since I didn’t play more than 4k hands after my last blog and I logged only about 36k Hands for this month including my ridiculous nl2k shots…

I hope I can start to play with full force again on monday or tuesday. After this bad month, I will do better now.

This tuesday I got tickets for the rise against concert at the gasometer. I hope I am fully recovered by tuesday, if so we might also hit the bars in vienna( A fiend of mine is joining me there) . On Friday we are going to prague for the weekend, to celebrate the birthday of a good friend of mine. On the 12th I am going to a ACL surgery for the 2nd time in my life, whish me luck there …

I am one of these guys that just can’t lose…. If I take a shot at 10/20 and get bashed, I regroup and try to come back stronger and better prepared…

So I played a really great session today, up until the point when I saw two fish sitting at 10/20 and decided that I own them pretty easy…

The very first hand I play at this table:

But the game was really great and I decided to continue anyway…

Next hilarious hand, no HH here since my HEM doesn’t show it, is when a fish manages to make a fh on a river with 1 card to a str8 missing and I manage to loose like a 3/4 buy in with the nut str8….

After that I recover a bit, by winning some medium sized pots. On the last hand I manage to flop a set in a reraised pot and villain manages to spike a two outer, for a higher set, on the turn and there goes another buy in…. Then the fish left and the table broke….

After that I think I lost all my karma at 10/20 and I continue to take one hit after another…

My hand of the day is definitely this one. Royal flushs don’t come around that often

Then one of the biggest reg fishes of the site manages to get it in with 55 against my kk 150 bb deep, he obvs. spikes a 5 on the flop.

Here a good reg tilts it off against me. I think I tilted him with my first hand, the second one is a couple of hands later. There I earn the fruits of my hard work ..

Hand1: I turn a flush and slowlay it and I think he got a lower flush here(again no hand history since my HEM screws up atm…)

I am quite a bit down this month, all in all I managed to drop nearly 8k in 300 Hands while playing nl2k. Not funny I guess….

But my hopes are pretty high that I am going to turn the tide.

Since I am pretty pissed right now and I like to use music I to cheer myself up. I wrote some songs down that I like to listen too when I want to cheer myself up.

run bad. I think I’ve done that at every limit since I started moving up from nl50 .

I am taking on nl1k right now and I am pretty serious about it. I am well roled for it, but if I continue to play bad at times and run bad I might have to consider to drop down again. Dropping down isn’t the worst thing for me so I could live with that.

So today I had a converstion with the live support and found out that they have doom sticks instead of a doomswitch. Since if they wouldn’t have it, the support wouldn’t mention it, right?

No real other interesting hands occured this year so far…. Most of my hands are just standard stuff, that went wrong.

Due to january beeing the month of about all my exams at the university, I was only able to grind out about 22k hands so far. At least my course work is doing well and think I am going to pass more exams then I did the years before ….

Oh I think I forgot about my 10/20 shot…. It went, well see for yourself…

The new Kings of Leon album is just great and you can put it like that they stopped crying and started singing and I really like it.

As you guys can see I decided to start blogging in English from now on. Wtfichigo is going to do the same and we are hoping to attract a few more frequent readers this way.
Until yesterday I’ve been in Graz celebrating New Years Eve and looking for an apartement for Gunnar, Alex and me. We found a pretty good one that statisfies most of our needs. Obviously there was/is still alot of stuff to do and thats why i couldnt play as much poker as i wanted to. I only played 19k Hands untill now in January but i ran good (as always :p ) so i im fine with it. On 23rd ill go on a trip to Kuala Lumpur and Bali together with a friend who is doing some traveling before he starts to work as a management consultant. He asked me if i wanted to join him and I figuered why not? I dont’t have too much to do anyways and i certainly would enjoy one week at the beach. I hate the cold weather we have in Vienna right now so im really looking forward to this trip.
Enough of the RL-stuff; its time for some more poker brag . Yesterday I took a shot at NL5k because a known fish (Chass777) was playing. It took me 3 hands to own half the table. This was the hand in question. Obviously well played by me! I dont really know what PIRA-PARA was doing with AQ there but whatever. After this hand the table instantly broke. This is what i call a successfull shot:

Today i had a little flamewar with an NL400-600 regular. Nothing special, just the usual bitching and whining by me after losing a hand . But I promised him to post my hourly Winrate so here it is:

And yes almost all of that is €. Counting rakeback that’s probably what i averaged in Euros over the past few months. Im not sure how far this is off my true winrate though. Poker is a really high variance game and even 300k hands dont mean that much nowadays.
